WELCOME TO IMS

The Institute of Media Studies (IMS) is established at Bhubaneswar in the year 1994 through the initiative and support of some prominent citizens and journalists and with the encouragement of the State Government for the purpose of producing trained, professional journalists, public relation managers and advertising executives for different media. The Institute is affiliated to Utkal University and recognized by the Government of Orissa. Over all these years, IMS has blossomed into a Centre of excellence in media studies. But the approach to spread the sweet fragrance of professional education has not remained restricted to these only, rather it has moved ahead to produce better business, Computer, finance and computer professionals by imparting courses like Bachelor in Business Administration, Personal Management and Industrial Relation, Bachelor in Computer Application, Advanced Diploma in Digital Multimedia and Master in Finance and control like courses . Thanks to the sustained efforts put in by Mr. Upendra Padhi, the Director, and also the unflagging support extended to it by friends and well wishers.

With a desire for an effective convergence of relevant multi-sectoral subjects on an infrastructure-rich complex, IMS has set up the Centre for Rural Development (CRD), a developmental resource centre with a full-fledged academic wing. Apart from imparting Utkal University-approved professional courses in rural development and social work, CRD seeks to emerge as a centre of eminence in applied development, chiefly through research, study, project formulation and implementation, evaluation and monitoring, consultancy etc. As an autonomous unit of policy research and action for holistic social sector development, CRD is gradually evolving into a premier developmental institute under the able and pragmatic guidance and leadership of Prof. T. Datta, the Executive Director.
